Imeros is a non-for-profit organization (NFP) founded in 1995 by a group of scholars and artists based in Athens. Today we are a global foundation aimed at culture development. Its original purpose was for actors, dancers, musicians and artists to collaborate and find new ways of expression. The company produces operas, seminars, research on movement, physical expression and dance.

In March 2011, Imeros produced its first opera "Antigone", which had its World Premiere at the Athens Concert Hall Megaron Mousikis under the auspices of the President of the Hellenic Republic. This new composition and libretto by Dr. Theodore Stathis progressed in two acts with a total of fifteen scenes. The opera translates Sophocles work into Modern Greek and includes the original power of the Greek Tragedy narrative scene combining music and dramatic design. These devices highlight the complex way in which ancient Greek tragedy and opera are linked. Our production was a huge success and helped raise 89,000 meals for hungry children around the world through the Organization Doctors without Frontiers.

In May 2012, Imeros produced its second opera "Opus Elgin: the Destruction of the Parthenon" which also had its World Premiere at the Athens Concert Hall Megaron Mousikis under the auspices of the President of the Hellenic Republic. The opera portrays the doleful story of looting and annihilation of the Acropolis marbles in Athens, particularly the Parthenon by the British Lord Elgin. Both the libretto and the music composition were written by Dr. Theodore Stathis.

In February 2015, Imeros produced it's third successful opera "Alcestis" which also had its World Premiere at the Athens Concert Hall Megaron Mousikis under the auspices of the President of the Hellenic Republic. This new composition and libretto by Dr. Theodore Stathis progressed in two acts. The purpose of this performance was to collect funds for the establishment of a scholarship fund. Composers initially will be invited to submit their opera proposals by a specified date, with the condition that the work is inspired by ancient Greek tragedy. All submissions will be reviewed by a committee of specialist formed by Imeros, and a majority voting system will be applied. The profits from this performance will be awarded to composers to write their respective operas.  The best three completed operas will be staged in various theaters through out Greece. This process will take about three years.

In addition it has produced two successful dance theater performances:

1. The Touch of Zeus, Music by Ianis Xenakis. This work had its World Premiere in the USA. The performance was sponsored by the Hellenic Studies at Princeton University.

It was also shown at the Arts Theatre in London, as well as The Thessaloniki Cultural Capital - 1998 (Mr. Xenakis personally congratulated the choreographer Ersie Pittas for her work in a written letter that can be seen on her website).

2. The Ceremonial Return for 12 Actors & Dancers, Poetry Constantine Cavafy performed at The National Theatre Stage (2000). The Company was previously sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, but since February 2011 it is an independent Non-Profit Organization and its goal is to promote cultural development globally.
